*Greek king of Macedon
*He became the most celebrated person of the Argead Dynasty
*Created one of the largest empires in ancient history
*He came to the throne after his father Philip 2 of Macedon was assassinated
*Said to be undefeatable in battle and one of the greatest commanders
*Known for tactical ability,his conquests and spreading Greek culture to the East
*Began the Hellenistic civilisation
*Conquered Asia Minor, Persia, Syria, Egypt, Assyria, Babylonia and the Indian subcontinent
*When he died he had no obvious heir and the empire fell apart
